The Language of New Media
Key Principles of New Media
1) While the general populous can understand film, they cannot necessarily create film. In contrast, basic computer functions such as email and blogging are accessible and easily navigated.
2) The mobility of the camera has liberated perspective creating a ¨new vision¨. The cameras lens can go wherever the artist wants it.
3) Through editing false realities are created
4) Two Basic Techniques
Separate realities form consecutive moments in time
Separate realities part of a singular image
5) Unifies ideas and images into one work.
6) Eye of the ¨cyborg¨ The cameras vision is ¨superhuman¨
7) New Media hierarchy consists of ¨interface content, operating system-application; web page-HTML code, high level programming language-assembly language-machine language¨(10)
